What
is a CSP and a CPAE?

Induction into the
CPAE Speaker Hall of FameŽ (established 1998) is a
lifetime award for speaking excellence and
professionalism. Inductees are evaluated by their
National Speakers Association (NSA) peers through a
rigorous and demanding process. Each candidate must
excel in seven categories: material, style,
experience, delivery, image, professionalism and
communication. The award is not based on celebrity
status, number of speeches, amount of income nor
volunteer involvement in NSA. Since it's inception
in 1977, only 147 men and women worldwide have been
inducted into the CPAE Speaker Hall of FameŽ. There
are 92 living CPAE recipients.
Phil Steffen received his CPAE in 1987.
The
Certified Speaking Professional designation,
established in 1980 by the National Speakers
Association, is the speaking profession's
international measure of professional platform
skill. CSP is conferred by the US-based National
Speakers Association and by the National Speakers
Association of Australia only on those who have
earned it by meeting strict criteria. The letters
CSP following a speaker's name indicate a speaking
professional with proven experience who understands
what is required and knows how to deliver client
satisfaction. Phil
Steffen received his CSP in 1981.
